DAMON GRAY has joined Partick Thistle on a second loan deal until January, 2009.
The Hibs striker scored four goals in his loan spell with Jags last season - one against Rangers in the Scottish Cup.
Thistle are still looking to strengthen their squad and assistant boss Gerry Britton said: "Ideally we would like to have a full squad for the start of the season, but we would rather wait than just sign anyone for the sake it.
"We selected two trialists against Burnley, and the manager has decided that we will not sign Simon Lynch, so I guess we will have to wait and see what happens."
The Firhill side's pre-season campaign reached a somewhat sombre end on Monday night when they lost 1-0 at home to Burnley.
Owen's Coyle's side scored the only goal of the game in the 44th minute when Jay Rodriguez threaded the ball through to Joey Gudjonsson, who fired past keeper Craig Hinchcliffe.
The defeat followed a 0-0 draw against Carlisle on Saturday, also at Firhill.
However, Britton is optimistic that the two games have helped prepare the team ahead of their first competitive clash against Queen's Park in the Challenge Cup on Saturday.
He said: "The pre-season matches have gone well and they have prepared the guys for the season ahead.
"Burnley are a very good side and they really gave the team a workout.
"We created chances but failed to convert any of them."
The recent fixtures have also allowed McCall to guage who he wants to line-up in the opening game, and it seems new signings Paul Paton and Ian Maxwell have impressed the Firhill boss.
Britton said: "The last couple of games have allowed Ian to look at the team and some of the players have shown good form.
"Paul has fitted into the squad really well and has worked hard, and Ian's experience really helps the defence given that Alan Archibald is still injured."
The club also learned this week of the death of former goalkeeper George Niven, who died at the age of 79 on Friday.
A spokesperson on the club website said: "George joined Thistle from Rangers in 1961 and served our club with great distinction.
"Thistle have been blessed throughout our history by a number of outstanding goalkeepers, of which George was one of the very best. He has deservedly been given the accolade of Thistle legend. "
The Jags will face Third Division side Forfar Athletic in the first round of the CIS Insurance Cup at Firhill on Tuesday, August 5.
Saturday's match against Queen's Park at Firhill kicks-off at 3pm.
