PARTICK Thistle's star signing Jackie McNamara is out for the rest of the season.
The 36 year old former Scotland player and Celtic captain suffered a leg break during the Jags' miserable 1-0 defeat to Ayr United on Wednesday night.

McNamara signed for the Jags on a loan deal from Falkirk in February and had played only a handfull of games.

Thistle boss Ian McCall said: "Jackie isn't the kind of player that goes to ground easily and we could tell at the time that it was a bad one and it has been confirmed that Jackie has broken his leg.

"He will see a specialist to try and determine just how serious a leg break it is.

"A leg break is obviously a bad injury at the best of times and our hope is that it is nothing more than a break and that there isn't, and we don't think there is, any cruciate ligament damage into the bargain.

"The best case scenario is that he will be fit for pre-season training at the end of June start of July. In the meantime we all wish Jackie, who was again excellent last night before being injured, all the best for a speedy recovery."
