TALENTED tweens and teens faced the music last week as the winner of the Young Voice of 2009 was announced at Cardinal Newman High School in Bellshill.
Our 10 finalists gave it their all on the night to wow their admiring audience and win over the judges in order to be crowned the Young Voice of 2009.
And in the nail-biting decision Bearsden's Joanne McMinn lost out by a single point to Sophie
Livingstone from Symington.
Talented Joanne (14) made it so difficult for the judges with her rendition of Taylor Swift's Love Story.
It was a fun night for everyone at the final and especially young winner Sophie who took first place with her version of Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
The winner received £250, plus time and tracks at Sub-Zero while Bearsden Academy pupil Joanne collected £150 and studio time and tracks.
Thid-placed Konner Millar Brookbanks, from Motherwell, received £100 and studio time and tracks.
The show was hosted by Kirkintilloch Herald assistant editor Alan Muir who said: "The contestants were all amazing. It was thrilling to see the young singers in action. No-one showed any sign of nerves."
The Young Voice was run by the Milngavie Herald, Kirkintilloch Herald Series, Motherwell Times and Bellshill Speaker, Carluke and Lanark Gazette and the Cumbernaul News and Kilsyth Chronicle.
It was sponsored by Motherwell College and Sub-Zero Recording Studion, Bellshill.
