Summer Fun at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Holiday Camps
The packed summer holiday programme is being offered to children at three sites at Williamwood, Barrhead and Eastwood High Schools.
The Trust’s teams are offering a whole host of outdoor sport and indoor learning activities, from trying their hand at archery and tennis, outdoor games and the daily mile scooter challenge to arts and craft design activities, the Summer Reading Challenge and library activities, drama and even drumming practice.

Hide AdNHS nurse Laura Rooney, from Giffnock, said: “The kids are having a great time at the summer holiday camps.
“The leaders are lovely and have organised a really varied programme including arts and crafts, sports, drama and reading.
“My kids are really enjoying activities like t-shirt making and sports and I’m able to go to work knowing they’re happy and engaged.”
East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure employees are leading the sessions, including the Trust’s recent Sports Leadership graduate, Tom Morgenthaler.

Hide AdThe Woodfarm High School pupil completed East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure’s Sports Leadership Academy, which is aimed at giving pupils a head start in forging successful sporting careers, during his fifth year at school.
He is now employed with the Trust and works alongside team leaders at the holiday camp, delivering the programme of sports activities.
He said: “I’ve recently completed rugby and football training as part of the Leadership Academy and am now putting all the skills I’ve learned along the way into practice.
“I’ve been really enjoying working with the kids as part of their holiday camps and enjoy keeping them active and happy.

Hide Ad“They’ve been playing rounders and basketball, taking part in athletics and fitness classes. I’m hoping to continue working in sports and want to study sports science at university so this is a great opportunity for me.”
The holiday camps replace East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure’s summer programme this year, which are usually opened for public bookings and take place at schools and halls across the region.
